Another woman, who used the pseudonym Andrea in Pitchfork's reporting, says she met Kozelek in 2014, when she was 19. Meanwhile, the accuser known as Andrea alleged Kozelek exposed himself to her in a hotel room in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2014, when she was 19 and he was 47. He also allegedly initiated sex that she wrote “really wasn’t consensual” in a series of Facebook messages to a friend the next day; the missives were shown to Pitchfork. The two carried on a long-distance relationship for several months afterward; Andrea described some encounters that were consensual and others where “the lines [were] really blurred,” including multiple instances of public sex that she felt pressured into. But for me, it is and will always be the most difficult to get through. Rasa, who requested to use only her first name in this article, claims that Kozelek nonconsensually masturbated in front of her in a hotel room in the European city where she lived.

The next day, she drove to her sister’s house and told her what happened, her sister confirmed to Pitchfork. The incidents alleged in the new article range from the early Nineties, during Kozelek’s days with Red House Painters, to more recent accusations from the height of Sun Kil Moon’s popularity in the 2010s. Many of the women who spoke to Pitchfork were fans of Kozelek who interacted with him during his shows and were later invited to his hotel rooms.

However, Kozelek's parting with the record label 4AD, followed by a major label merger which left Red House Painters' 1998 album Old Ramon on the shelf, proved highly frustrating and stifled the group's momentum. August 18, 2010 • "Admiral Fell Promises" is an almost impossibly lovely and tender plea to a would-be lover. Perhaps the least lascivious come-on in the history of seduction, "Admiral Fell Promises" alternates between reassurance ("Come into my arms and let your worries die") and obsession ("Let me lock you in my room and keep you for a while"). The record was uncharacteristic of Kozelek (though he was prone to covering songs by his favorite artists) in that it is one of the shortest full-length albums of his to date, clocking in at just over thirty minutes. Mark Edward Kozelek is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, record producer and occasional actor. He is known as the vocalist and primary recording artist of the indie folk act Sun Kil Moon and founding member of the indie rock band Red House Painters, with whom he recorded six studio albums from 1988 until 2001. Inspired by classical guitar music, Kozelek recorded Sun Kil Moon's fourth studio album, Admiral Fell Promises (2010), as a solo act, and continued to record mostly alone on its follow-up, Among the Leaves (2012). Sun Kil Moon's eighth studio album, Common as Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood, was released in February 2017, which was followed by their ninth studio album, This Is My Dinner, in November 2018. The tenth Sun Kil Moon studio album, I Also Want to Die in New Orleans, was released in March 2019.

She alleges that Kozelek “invited her and another female musician to his hotel room after a festival in 2014 and acted inappropriately with her as well.” No other details were provided. Little Drummer Boy – Live, released on November 28, 2006, contains live recordings from various shows in Europe and North America. The double CD covers a broad range of Mark Kozelek material, including Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon and personalized covers of Modest Mouse, The Cars and AC/DC.
The new album by Sun Kil Moon, entitled Admiral Fell Promises, will be released July 13 on Caldo Verde Records. This 60 minute, 10 song album of original material will be released on CD, digitally and vinyl. The vinyl version includes liner notes and 2 bonus tracks recorded live in St.Malo, France. In the seven months since Pitchfork published an article detailing claims of sexual misconduct against Mark Kozelek, seven more women have come forward with similar allegations about the Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters singer-songwriter. These new allegations include nonconsensual nudity and masturbation, unwanted touching, and one claim of nonconsensual intercourse.

Benji was the sixth full length record by Mark Kozelek's Sun Kil Moon. The album was released February 11, 2014 and features guest musicians Steve Shelley, Will Oldham and Owen Ashworth. On August 20 of 2013, Mark Kozelek's Caldo Verde Records released Mark Kozelek & Desertshore, the third record from Mark Kozelek and Phil Carney's side project, Desertshore. 2013 also saw the release of Mark Kozelek Like Rats, 2 live albums, and the Mark Kozelek and Jimmy Lavalle's collaboration, Perils From The Sea. Both Mark Kozelek & Desertshore and Perils From The Sea made Uncut's top 100 best albums of the year.

Instead, she alleges, Kozelek brought her to his hotel room, where he undressed and made sexual advances on her, which she refused. She then claimed Kozelek pleaded for her to stay the night, and they later had sex, which Ella categorizes as rape. At the time, Ella was a 20-year-old college student while Kozelek was 50. Ella’s boyfriend at the time confirmed to Pitchfork that she told him she had had non-consensual intercourse with Kozelek. October 31, 2008 • Sun Kil Moon's Mark Kozelek is remarkably adept at crafting somber, epic ballads like the gorgeous "Lost Verses," which opens April.
Following the dissolution of Red House Painters after the tumultuous release of their last album, Old Ramon, Kozelek released a handful of solo recordings before forming Sun Kil Moon in 2002. The initial Sun Kil Moon consisted of Kozelek with former Red House Painters bandmates Anthony Koutsos and Jerry Vessel, as well as bassist Geoff Stanfield of Black Lab and drummer Tim Mooney. A mental health specialist who lives in Los Angeles named Sarah Catherine Golden told Pitchfork that she met Kozelek in 2017 while traveling. After talking with her at one of Kozelek’s shows, she told Pitchfork, he invited her back to his hotel.
They had lunch together on the day of the concert, and returned to his hotel room afterward. Kozelek had kissed her before the performance, and repeatedly asked her to spend the night at his hotel, but assured her that he would not make sexual advances, she says. She was aware that he was interested in her, she says, and open to some sort of relationship herself.
August 13, 2020 • The established indie singer and songwriter was accused in a report published by Pitchfork on Thursday. "Shock Me" is a Kiss cover, though you wouldn't know it unless you'd memorized the 1977 original. You get it here in both its four-minute "electric" and 11-minute acoustic version, along with two very good, shorter songs, "Sundays and Holidays" and "Three-Legged Cat".
Mark Kozelek’s third album with Sun Kil Moon, April, was released through Caldo Verde on April 1, 2008. In addition to these releases, Mark also released the Night Talks solo EP as a free giveaway for direct purchases through Caldo Verde Records. On October 6, 2017, Caldo Verde Records released Mark Kozelek's collaborative album Mark Kozelek with Ben Boye and Jim White.
It's important to remember, though, that the group wasn't just Kozelek. For the first three full-lengths, it was Kozelek on vocals and guitars along with drummer Anthony Koutsos, bassist Jerry Vessel, and guitarist Gorden Mack. He released it on Supreme Recordings, a label owned by John Hughes and under the auspices of Island Records, which reminds me that he's the only person from Red House Painters who also went on to act in movies. Red House Painters were fairly popular in the early '90s, but details on them were scarce.
In 2008, the two spent a day together in Melbourne, where he was performing that night. At one point, she says, he asked her if she’d ever been attracted to or romantically interested in him, and she told him firmly that she hadn’t. Upon returning to the United States, Connie had a conversation with Kozelek about his alleged behavior, she says. She also confided to a close friend about Kozelek’s behavior shortly after they returned from the trip, the friend confirmed to Pitchfork. “I remember her just being really miserable, and feeling really broken in a way that I had never seen her before,” the friend says.
